What is a Khimar?

A khimar is a long, cape-like veil that covers the head, neck, shoulders, and often part of the chest and back. Unlike the hijab, which is usually wrapped around the head in various ways, the khimar is often fixed in shape and falls loosely over the body.

The khimar is worn by many Muslim women as a form of modesty clothing, in line with Islamic precepts. The face remains uncovered, making it distinctly different from the niqab (which also covers the face). Khimars come in different lengths and styles, from short models that fall just below the shoulders to longer versions that cover almost the entire upper body.

Many women choose a khimar for its comfort and full coverage. It can be paired with an abaya, maxi dress or full skirt for an elegant and modest look.

What do you think of the khimar? Do you prefer to wear a hijab or a khimar?
