What is a Kimono?

The kimono is originally a traditional Japanese garment, but can also be worn modestly within the Islamic dress code. Due to the loose fit and long sleeves, a kimono can fit perfectly within the Islamic standards of covering clothing, as long as it is not transparent or too tight.

Many Muslim women wear kimono-like jackets or dresses as part of their outfit, often combined with a hijab. Long kimonos with wide cuts in particular are becoming popular as a stylish and modest clothing choice, ideal for both casual and formal occasions.

Want to wear a kimono in an Islamic responsible way? Combine it with a long dress, wide pants or abaya and a well-covering hijab for an elegant and modest look. 😊
