What is a Niqab?
A niqab is a face covering worn by some Muslim women as part of their Islamic dress. Unlike the hijab, which covers only the hair and neck, the niqab leaves only the eyes visible. It is often paired with an abaya or long dress for full body coverage.
The niqab is most common in Middle Eastern and South Asian countries, but is worn worldwide by women who choose to dress this way. There are different styles of niqabs: some cover only the face with a loose veil, while others have an additional layer that can also cover the eyes.
For many women, the niqab is a conscious choice made out of religious conviction and personal modesty. Although it varies by culture and individual, the niqab often has a deep spiritual and personal meaning for those who wear it.
